Assignment background
ECUs (Electronic Control Units) installed in automobiles must be highly reliable even under the harsh conditions of temperature, humidity, and vibration in the in-vehicle environment. For this reason, insulation protection through moisture-proof coating (conformal coating) on the circuit board surface is essential.
However, conventional coating equipment had the following problems:
- Splashing of liquid outside the application area
Due to insufficient precision in nozzle control, the liquid was adhering to unintended locations, causing short circuits and poor insulation. - Liquid pools at the start and end points of application and uneven film thickness
The discharge stability is low, excess liquid accumulates at the start and end points, and the quality of the moisture-proof layer varies. - Dripping and air bubbles at the edge of the board
Excessive discharge of the liquid and the inclusion of air bubbles had a negative impact on the appearance quality and long-term durability of the finished product.
