Assignment background
In recent years, home and commercial air conditioners, large fans, and coolers are required to operate for long periods in harsh environments such as outdoor residential installations, factories, and warehouses. The electronic control boards installed in these devices are constantly exposed to the following harsh environmental factors:
- Water intrusion due to rainwater or humidity
- Dust, oil, salt, and other deposits
- Temperature fluctuations and condensation due to sunlight and temperature differences
This puts the board at risk of failure due to:
- Corrosion of electronic components
- Deterioration of insulation performance
- Occurrence of short circuits and malfunctions
To prevent these risks and ensure the reliability and long life of the equipment as a whole, the application of moisture-proof coatings is attracting attention as an effective solution.
However, the following issues have been identified with the conventional coating process:
- Splashing problem
The coating material can splash onto unexpected areas (sensors and connectors), causing malfunctions and poor contact. Particularly during mass production, variations in coating can reduce yields and increase production costs. - Uneven film thickness
Liquid pools and bumps formed at the start and end points of application, causing uneven film thickness. This often resulted in variations in moisture-proofing effect and appearance quality even within the same board, affecting the reliability of the entire product. - Air bubble problem
Air bubbles easily get trapped in the gaps between components and at the edges of the board, leaving cracks and voids after drying, which can lead to poor insulation and insufficient protection, increasing the risk of failure over long-term use.
Benefits
To solve these issues, we introduced the SV70 conformal coating valve, which improved the quality and stability of moisture-proof coating.
- Prevents scattering and applies target with high precision
The square nozzle installed on the SV70 enables highly accurate control of the dispensing amount and dispensing position, preventing coating of unnecessary areas. By reliably protecting important areas, we have achieved improved yield and reduced rework. - Uniform film thickness and stable appearance quality
This prevents liquid pooling at the start and end points of application, forming a uniform coating over the entire surface of the substrate. As a result, variations in moisture-proofing effect are eliminated, and the consistency of appearance quality is improved. - Suppression of bubbles and ensuring long-term reliability
Low flow rate and stable discharge control prevents air bubbles from forming between parts and in narrow spaces. This helps maintain insulation and protection performance even over long periods of use, significantly extending product life, especially in outdoor environments.
Introduced products
Conformal Coating Valve SV70
The SV70 is a high-performance valve that can precisely apply desiccant without scattering, providing stable quality and high productivity even on mass production lines.
- Square nozzle prevents scattering: Allows precise application only to designated areas, preventing misapplication of sensors and connectors. Significantly contributes to improved yield.
- Ensures uniform film thickness: Prevents liquid pooling at the start and end points of coating, forming a consistent coating across the entire surface, preventing variations in product quality.
- Achieving a new level of coating quality: Compared to conventional methods, it demonstrates superior performance in terms of protection, discharge accuracy, and workability. It is particularly suitable for protecting substrates in harsh environments.
